TrustCC regularly hosts Seminars and Classes to promote security, audit and compliance "best" practices, to foster a community of informed compliance professionals, and to increase awareness of current trends, dangers, and regulatory considerations. These seminars, branded as "Where Trust is Key” IT Security and Audit Seminars, are regularly held in Seattle, Tacoma, and Spokane. Additional sessions are being planned for Portland, Honolulu and Boise.

CEO Tom Schauer spoke at the 2008 Annual Conference & One-Day Seminar of the Association of Credit Union Internal Auditors. 

May 15, 2008 - WSTPA presents Hacks, Cracks and Computer Attacks: Part II
A Demonstration of Hacking Tools and Techniques, Poulsbo Regional Library, Washinton.
TrustCC's Brian Morkert, Khassan Naorujanov and Josh Landers discussed and demonstrated some of the latest penetration testing tools and tactics including automated vulnerability scanners, manual techniques, and exploitation frameworks. 

May 15th, 2008 - TrustCC partnered with Washington Trust Bank, Greater Spokane Inc., IT-Lifeline and Internet Identity, Spokane, Washington.
The seminar provided useful presentations and information relevant to emerging security and audit issues, including:

  • Phishing - Grown Up and How They Will Target You, presented by Dan Jones of Internet Identity
  • Business Continuity Management: The Concept and the Process, presented by John Ames of IT-Lifeline. 
  • The Anatomy of Business Continuity & Recovery - An Information Technology Perspective, presented by Steven Tabacek and Mark Mazenko of IT-Lifeline. 
  • Penetration and Vulnerability Assessment Tactics, presented by Brian Morkert, Hassan Naourjanov and Josh Landers of TrustCC. 

April 21 - 24, 2008 - Christian Management Association Conference, Dallas, Texas.
CEO Tom Schauer co-lead a workshop on financial management titled "There’s Safety (and Integrity) in Numbers". Special focus was on knowledge capital, internal controls and SAS 112, internal audit function (small through XXL organization), and information security-best practices and challenges.

March 19, 2008 - TrustCC Seminar hosted at Seattle Pacific University, Seattle, Washinton.

February 21, 2008 - ISACA Portland Chapter Luncheon, Portland, Oregon.
CEO Tom Schauer spoke at the Portland ISACA Meeting on a topic entitled, "Seven Deadly Sins: The Common Security Mistakes that Leave Banks and Credit Unions Open to Exploit."

February 19, 2008 - IIA Spokane Chapter Luncheon, Spokane, Washington.
CEO Tom Schauer spoke at the IIA Spokane Chapter Luncheon on a topic entitled, "In a World of Networked Computers, Every Sociopath is Your Neighbor."

January 14 - 15, 2008 - NASCUS’ West Coast Intermediate Information Technology Examination School, San Diego, California.
CEO Tom Schauer spoke on network security and firewalls, focusing on security issues examiners should look for and discussing ways to prevent and detect computer attacks. "The goal of this school [was] to expose information technology (IT) examiners and safety and soundness examiners involved in IT examinations to credit union IT examination best practices and techniques."
